Summer was fun and all but it can do a number on your skin and your health. So it’s a good idea to have a post-summer skin care plan. Lucky for you, I thought I would do a fun post-summer post on all my fave products that really help my skin get back in tip top shape.
Too much fun in the sun can do a number on the appearance of your skin. Although I do my best to always keep it protected, it can still be affected. One of those ways that it can be affected is with those pesky little sun spots. And when I noticed that I had gotten a little bit of discoloration,
I freaked, calmly dealt with it like a normal, sane person cue *eye roll*.
Post-Summer Skin Care:
One of those products that helped that annoying discoloration was this gem from Odacite.
Papaya Geranium Serum Concentrate: I LOVE this serum. It really helped reduce that pesky brown spot on the side of my face. Papaya fruit enzymes work to dissolve dead skin cells which unveil a fresh and more even-toned glow. Geranium and Lemon oils combine to further encourage a more evened-out skin tone and provide wrinkle reduction, WIN! As with all Odacite products, this serum is made with organic, cold pressed oils which help to ensure you are getting the best quality product. I went through this bottle in about a month, so I will be re-purchasing it again because I really loved how it made my skin glow. When I was using it on the one spot, I just applied a little bit directly on the spot/area itself. This was a little more intense but I think it helped to work better. I know that when I worked at Detox Market, the reviews on this product were all very positive. Definitely a must for post-summer skin care.
Herbivore Botanicals, Instant Glow Mask: I have been super intrigued with this brand for a while and so I was really excited to finally try one of their products. Of course, being the mask connoisseur that I am, I went for this one in particular. I love my Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask (which you can read about here), but that can get pricey, so I was trying to find an alternative. This one features gentle fruit enzymes, rice powder, and micronized Brazilian tourmaline gemstone. It works to gently exfoliate and energize your skin to give it that fresh glowy look. With continued use, it helps increase radiance softness and a renewed appearance. When you first start using it, you should use it every night for three nights and then 2-3 times per week. I like that this is a bigger sized bottle than the average so it should last me quite a while. I have noticed that my skin is much softer in terms of how it feels and how it looks. Make sure that you use a sunscreen with it the next day to maintain results. I have also been using their Phoenix Facial Oil and I love it too.
Kypris Antioxidant Dew: I have written about my love for all things Kypris before, but it had actually been a while since I used the antioxidant dew. I was trying a different serum that I didn’t really care for so I was happy to return to this one. I love how this one leaves my skin in the morning so that my makeup looks polished and dewy. It is a great product for post-summer skin care because of the high amounts of vitamin A, C and E. It is especially good for environmentally stressed skin and imbalanced complexions. It is my absolute fave serum hands down because of the way it leaves your skin looking, which is hydrated and dewy.
Probiotic Water: If you are wondering what the top tip I have for great skin is, it’s to stay hydrated. Simple, but true and it works wonders on the suppleness of your skin. I like adding different things to my water to give it some flavour because lets face it just plain water can be a bit boring. I can keep it simple with lots of lemon, cucumber, mint and ginger or I sometimes add some extra probiotics. Say what?! Yup, it is true and it tastes seriously amazing. I am OBSESSED with The Beauty Chef products and have been using them for years. One of my faves from them is their boosters. The hydration one is an organic, bio-fermented and coconut-infused probiotic designed to support gut health and enhance skin radiance from the inside out. SIGN ME RIGHT UP!
You take it as a shot (or add it to your water like I do) as it combines organic coconut water, aloe vera and lemon myrtle to combat dry, dull skin, ageing and fine lines and free-radical damage. Because of those probiotics, it also works on your gut too, which is ESSENTIAL if you want great skin. These boosters also come in an antioxidant blend and a collagen one, but to be honest the hydration one is hands down, my fave of them all. Note: it is important to be using clean, filtered water to ensure the best quality H2O and also to ensure that those good bacteria in The Beauty Chef products remain intact.

A Good Hair Mask: Since your hair can also get too much sun, resulting in it too looking a little dull, it is a good idea to do a hair mask to show it some love too. My go-to hair mask is from Rahua. The mask contains ungurahua oil, which is rich in Omega-9 fatty acids. It consists of tiny molecules that penetrate into the core of each strand to heal and fortify, infusing thirsty hair with moisture. It is also my hairdresser, Diana’s fave hair mask too and she knows hair! I love how nourished, soft and smooth my hair looks and feels after I use it. You use it after you shampoo your hair, applying from root to tip and combing it through. Then leave it on for about 5-10 minutes and wash out. I’ll be honest, I don’t love their other hair products (shampoo and conditioner) but this mask is hair goals.
Clay mask, The Problem Solver: I love this clay mask becasue it is so great at pulling out dirt and impurities from your skin. I have already written about this mask in detail and May Lindstrom products, so if you want to check out that post, feel free to check that out here.
Detox, The Right Way: Yes, I do believe that there is a right and wrong way to detox or cleanse. I don’t believe in jumping on juice cleanses becasue typically they leave you hungry and craving everything after you do them and they give you a false sense of security. A good facial: I plan on going for a facial at the end of the month to really help my skin look and feel better. I have been getting facials regularly since I was a child almost. Yeah, I was the young girl having face mask Fridays in elementary school…but you know what I actually think that was a huge benefit. It taught me the importance of taking care of my skin and I actually looked forward to my twice a year professional facials including extractions. There is something so satisfying to me about getting a facial, like my skin went back in time a bit. This time around I am trying out a mini sea salt microdermabrasion from Pure & Simple, located in Toronto. I have been getting my facials here for about a year and like it, but I have been wanting to try a little something extra from them for a while. I’ll keep you posted!
